Minister Clement Highlights Progress Made in Implementing Economic Action Plan 2013 and Cutting Red Tape to the Business Council of British Columbia
(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 07/30/13 -- The Honourable Tony Clement, President of the Treasury Board, today outlined the Government of Canada's actions to reduce red tape and support job creation, growth, and long-term prosperity in an address to members of the Business Council of British Columbia.
"Our Government has a strong record of empowering entrepreneurs and business people," said Minister Clement. "By eliminating barriers to investment, investing in infrastructure and innovation, and keeping taxes low, we are focusing on creating the economic conditions that promote business confidence."
Economic Action Plan 2013 is helping manufacturers and businesses succeed in the global economy with the introduction of an ambitious new skills training program, the Canada Job Grant, and the launch of the largest job-creating infrastructure investment initiative in Canadian history.
"Economic Action Plan 2013 underscores our top priority of creating jobs, growth, and long-term prosperity, while keeping taxes low for Canadian families and businesses, and balancing the budget by 2015," said Minister Clement. "In addition, our Government's Red Tape Reduction Action Plan increases Canadian competitiveness and frees business to innovate, invest, grow, and create jobs."
Launched in October 2012, the Red Tape Reduction Action Plan is one of the most far-reaching and ambitious red tape-cutting initiatives in the world today. The Action Plan is reducing unnecessary paperwork in areas ranging from tax and payroll to transport and trade while introducing time-saving measures like single windows and electronic submissions.
The Government is also taking steps to deliver better service at reduced cost to Canadian taxpayers by modernizing the public service.
"Canadians need and deserve a 21st-century public service that is equipped to deliver modern, cost-effective service to Canadians," Minister Clement added. "By controlling our labour costs and operating more efficiently and effectively, we'll ensure that Canadian taxpayers get a good return on their money."
