Guardians of Rescue in CA to Assist Veteran
Paws of War(TM) Program Heads West to Deliver Service Dog
(firmenpresse) - RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 07/30/13 -- Guardians of Rescue, a New York based non-profit organization dedicated to helping animals and the people who love them, along with California based K-9 Behavior Services are honored to deliver a service dog to a veteran in need.
U.S Marine Veteran Eric Bonnema reached out to Guardians of Rescue through our Paws of War ™ program, which provides service dogs to veterans suffering from PTSD. Guardians of Rescue began training one of their many dogs to assist Eric that would be delivered in late September. But recently, Eric lost his job, which added to his anxieties and the need to fulfill his request for a dog became immediate.
"We understand what having a service dog will mean to Eric's rehabilitation and ability to cope with the challenges of PTSD. We immediately mobilized and I am now in California. We reached out to a well known California trainer to facilitate his wish," said Robert Misseri President of Guardians. Jeremy Talamantes of K-9 Behavior Services in Fillmore, CA offered to help out with a trained 3 year old retriever mix named "Mosa" who will be delivered on August 1 to Eric's home located at 7828 Daycreek Blvd in Rancho Cucamonga at 11am pdt.
Guardians of Rescue is an all volunteer organization, began the Paws of War Program ™ earlier this year and so far we matched up 8 veterans who suffer from PTSD with dogs who not only comfort them but become an integral part of their everyday lives.
During a recent interview, on the "Mike Huckabee Show" US Army Veteran, and Guardians member Corporal John Wallis stated, "Guardians of Rescue helped save my life, I suffer from PTSD. Having my shaggy dog Tommy there for me has made a tremendous difference in my life. He always has my back and is a constant source of comfort and strength."
