Media Advisory: Canadian Armed Forces Contingent to Honour the Fallen at Agira Canadian War Cemetery
(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 07/28/13 -- On July 30, 2013, 60 Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) personnel will join Canadians in a ceremony of remembrance at Agira Canadian War Cemetery and Memorial as part of Operation SICILY.
When: July 30 at 10 a.m. Central European Summer Time (4 a.m. EDT).
Where: Agira Canadian War Cemetery and Memorial, Agira, Sicily.
What: A ceremony of remembrance at the Agira Canadian War Cemetery to honour more than 500 Canadian soldiers and airmen who died fighting in the Sicilian Campaign in 1943. The ceremony is the culmination of Operation SICILY, the CAF's participation in Operation Husky 2013, a private commemorative effort to mark the 70th anniversary of the Sicilian Campaign. Telephone interviews with participating CAF members can be arranged.
Who: In addition to the 60 CAF members, the Honourable Julian Fantino, Minister of Veterans Affairs Canada; Lieutenant-General Jonathan Vance, Deputy Commander Allied Joint Forces Command Naples; and Ambassador James Fox, Canadian Ambassador to Italy, are scheduled to attend.
