Barona's 43rd Annual Powwow Shares Traditional Native American Culture With San Diego
(firmenpresse) - SAN DIEGO, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 07/24/13 -- The invites you to experience Native American dancing, music and cuisine at the 43rd annual Barona Powwow on the Barona Indian Reservation. The celebration starts on Friday, August 30 with gourd dancing at 6 p.m. and grand entry at 7 p.m. and continues throughout the weekend on Saturday and Sunday, August 31- September 1, from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m.
During the three-day event, which coincides with Labor Day weekend, more than 300 Native Americans from across the country will showcase traditional Tribal dancing as they compete for over $60,000 in prize money. In addition to beautiful regalia and dancing, spectators will also be able to enjoy Hand Drum contests, singing and music, authentic Native American cuisine and exquisite handcrafted jewelry.
The Barona Powwow will take place at the Barona Baseball Field located just one mile north of the Barona Resort & Casino on Wildcat Canyon Road in Lakeside. Admission and parking are free. Free shuttle service is also available from Barona Resort & Casino to the Powwow; the shuttle pick-up and drop-off area is located at the south entrance of the casino.
