Minister Clement Announces Second Tentative Agreement Reached with Public Sector Unions in a Month
(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 07/24/13 -- The Honourable Tony Clement, President of the Treasury Board, today announced that the Government of Canada has reached a tentative agreement with the Correctional Services (CX) Group, the union representing correctional officers employed in federal penitentiaries.
"We are pleased to have reached a tentative agreement with the Correctional Services Group on a new collective agreement," said Minister Clement. "This settlement reflects the Government's commitment to reaching agreements that are fair to employees and fair to taxpayers."
The offer is consistent with settlements reached with other groups in the core public administration and is aligned with what is offered by other public- and private-sector employers. It follows a tentative agreement reached on July 4 with the Aircraft Operations Group, which is responsible for inspecting and regulating aircraft and aviation facilities.
The Correctional Services Group represents 6,870 employees who are primarily responsible for the custody, control and correctional influence of inmates, and for the training of staff involved in custodial and correctional work.
