Minister Clement Highlights Economic Action Plan 2013 and the Government's Red Tape Reduction Efforts in Prince Edward Island
(firmenpresse) - CHARLOTTETOWN, PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND -- (Marketwired) -- 07/24/13 -- The Honourable Tony Clement, President of the Treasury Board, outlined the Government of Canada's efforts to reduce red tape, and highlighted Economic Action Plan 2013, in an address today to members of the Charlottetown Chamber of Commerce, and yesterday to members of the Summerside Rotary Club.
"Our Government believes in the determination and drive of Canadian entrepreneurs," said Minister Clement. "That's why we are focused on reducing red tape for businesses, while keeping taxes low for families and businesses, and balancing the budget by 2015."
Through Economic Action Plan 2013, the Government of Canada is helping manufacturers and businesses succeed in the global economy by enhancing the conditions for creating and growing businesses.
The Government of Canada is helping Canadians obtain the skills and qualifications they need to get jobs in high-demand fields by introducing the Canada Job Grant. The Canada Job Grant will provide up to $15,000 to help individuals get the skills training they need for the jobs that businesses need filled. The Minister also highlighted the Government's Red Tape Reduction Action Plan, one of the most far-reaching and ambitious red tape-cutting initiatives in the world today. Launched in October 2012, the Action Plan introduces systemic reforms to the federal regulatory system, as well as department-specific changes, to reduce red tape in areas ranging from tax and payroll to transport and trade. It also introduces time-saving measures like single windows and electronic submissions.
"Excessive red tape is a hidden tax and a silent job killer," said Minister Clement. "The Action Plan increases Canadian competitiveness and frees business to innovate, invest, grow, and create jobs-and underscores Canada's reputation as one of the best places in the world to do business and invest."
