Almas Jiwani to be honoured with GWPT Gender and Environment Sustainability Award The exclusive fundraiser event will be held on July 20, 2013, at 53 Hemford Crescent, Toronto, kicking off at 3:30 pm to showcase the leadership and excellence in sustainability involved in the planning and construction of the first LEED certified Home in Don Mills, "2Spruce House. (firmenpresse) - TORONTO, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 07/18/13 -- Almas Jiwani, President of UN Women National Committee Canada, will be honoured with a Gender and Environment Sustainability Award in recognition of her work and dedication to advance gender equality in all areas, including environment, climate change and sustainable development on Saturday, July 20th. The first annual award will be presented at the LEED eco-energy Open House Celebration, hosted by Global Warming Prevention Technologies Inc. (GPWT), an expanding Canadian-based environmental design and clean-tech development corporation. GWPT pursues innovative architectural solutions and essential technologies including, waste conversion, pollution controls and water purification. CEO, Steve Poulos, designed the house, which features many environmental components including the unique incorporation of two existing Norway Spruce trees into a central courtyard.

The event is dedicated as an exclusive fundraiser for UN Women National Committee Canada, with all contributions and proceeds to support the advancement of gender equality and women's empowerment as vital component needed to achieve equitable sustainable development globally.

The event will feature an art exhibit by landscape artist Lorne Wagman, and special performances by Belinda Brady, two-time Juno nominee and Canadian Urban Music Award winning singer.

There will also be a silent auction at the event, with a generous donation from high end jeweller Zanis & Co. who have donated unique timepieces, from the "Universe" collection, designed to inspire the wearer with each watch contains 70 free floating diamonds and a authenticated piece of the Moon, Mars and Space Gem underneath a clear dome.
