Law Society Regulatory Proceedings for June 2013
(firmenpresse) - TORONTO, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 07/16/13 -- The Law Society of Upper Canada regulates the lawyers and paralegals of Ontario in the public interest. The Law Society ensures that all lawyers and licensed paralegals in Ontario meet standards of learning, professional competence and professional conduct that are appropriate for the legal services provided.
As part of this mandate, the Law Society's Hearing and Appeal Panels recently heard the following matters. Hearing and Appeal Panels are responsible for determining the appropriate disposition of cases.
Peter Young Atkinson (1973) of the City of Toronto
Decision: The Lawyer was suspended for 2 years from August 30, 2008. Continuing for 2 years after June 17, 2013, the Lawyer must comply with specified terms.
Yiadom Akwasi Atuobi-Danso (1994) of the City of Brampton
Decision: The Lawyer is granted permission to surrender his licence within 30 days of June 12, 2013, failing which his licence is revoked.
Pamila Bhardwaj (1994) of the City of Toronto
Decision: The Lawyer is suspended for six weeks commencing on August 12, 2013. Commencing June 11, 2013, the Lawyer must comply with specified terms.
William John Franklin Bishop (1973) of the City of Kingston
Decision: The licence of the Lawyer shall be revoked, effective July 1, 2013.
Licio Edward Cengarle (1973) of the City of Toronto
Decision: The Lawyer's appeal from the Decision and Order dated October 2, 2012 is dismissed. The issue of the start date for the suspension ordered by the hearing panel remains to be dealt with.
Matthew Joseal Igbinosun (1998) of the City of Toronto
Decision: The stay of the hearing panel's decision and order is extended until July 3, 2013.
Robert Roy Istl (1981) of the City of Windsor
Decision: The Lawyer was reprimanded.
Michael Vernon MacKay (1989) of the City of Toronto
Decision: The Lawyer's licence was revoked effective June 10, 2013.
Stephane Asnot MonPremier (2002) of the City of Ottawa
Decision: The Lawyer was reprimanded.
Deanna Lynn Natale (1994) of the Town of Markham
Decision: The Lawyer is to be reprimanded.
Tang Trang Nguyen (1995) of the City of Toronto
Decision: The Lawyer shall be reprimanded and shall undergo a practice review.
Jarvis Yap Ortega (2005) of the City of Toronto
Decision: The Lawyer's licence was suspended for six months, starting 30 days after May 30, 2013. Following his suspension, the Lawyer's real estate practice is to be supervised for a period of two years.
Roger Joseph Smith (1967) of the City of Toronto
Decision: The Lawyer was granted permission to surrender his licence to practice law. If he does not surrender his licence within 30 days from June 7, 2013, his licence will be revoked.
Eugenio Totera (2000) of the Town of Richmond Hill
Decision: Further to the Order of January 21, 2013, the Lawyer was awarded costs of $12,379.15.
Leslie Andrew Vandor (1982) of the City of Ottawa
Decision: The lawyer's appeal was dismissed.
Graham Edward Wilson (1992) of the City of St. Catharines
Decision: The Lawyer's licence is revoked effective May 27, 2013.
