Fort Collins Foreign Car Service Recommends Vehicle Check Before Summer Road Trip

Kids are out of school, and the warm weather and longs days are pushing individuals to take time to travel and explore. Road trips are a popular vacation option, but a lack of pre-traveling planning can lead to disaster. Fort Collins Foreign Car Service, an import serving the Northern Colorado area, advises individuals to schedule a vehicle maintenance check before heading out on the road.
"Have your vehicle checked at least two weeks before your long drive to ensure trouble-free operation during your vacation," said Bill Cooper, FCFCS owner. "No one wants the stress of a breakdown while on vacation."
A vehicle's brakes, tires, all lighting equipment such as brake lights, tail lights and headlights should all be checked during a summer maintenance check. A vehicle's wheel bearings, steering, suspension, driveshafts, axles and fluid levels, including fluid leaks, should also be inspected.
"A fresh is not a bad idea before a trip as well," Cooper said.
Vehicles should have a regular maintenance check every six months, including regular tire rotations depending on the wear of the tread. Tires with the best tread should be on the front of the vehicle.
FCFCS recommends scheduling a check a minimum of two weeks before departing on a road trip. "Many people have a check done only days before their trip, and if we find major repairs are needed, the vehicle may not be ready in time for travel," Cooper said. "Besides, having repairs completed days before the trip allows the customer time to test drive their vehicle before it's on the road for a long distance."
