Visit to Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug First Nation on National Aboriginal Day
(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 06/20/13 -- Youth of Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug (KI) First Nation living in the remote boreal forest of northwestern Ontario are opening their homes to Canadians to share their culture and showcase the spirit of their community. Her Excellency Sharon Johnston and Her Honour Mrs. Ruth Ann Onley have accepted this invitation and will attend the KI Event on Friday, June 21, 2013, on the occasion of National Aboriginal Day.
"I'm looking forward to engaging with these youth from KI who clearly show leadership and creativity in hosting other Canadians in their community," said Her Excellency. "It will be very inspiring for me to spend National Aboriginal Day with them. Their invitation is not only an act of openness, but also one of friendship."
In 2010, Her Excellency and Her Honour visited Eabametoong First Nation at the invitation of Nishnawbe Aski Nation Grand Chief Stan Beardy.
