Los Angeles International Commercial Beer Competition Announces Winners for 2013
A Samuel Adams Red Takes Top Honors
(firmenpresse) - POMONA, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 06/18/13 -- A Belgian-style lambic/sour ale took the top honors at the 2013 . Earning a gold medal, Boston Beer Company, Samuel Adams Stony Brook Red took Best of Show among the 647 entries.
Judged in early June, the beer competition drew entries from as far as Iceland, Japan, Belgium, Rome and Mexico. Entries were up 33 percent from last year, with beers submitted into 82 divisions. Many styles and price ranges were represented. Beers were tasted by a 70-member panel comprised of BJCP certified judges, brew masters and beer industry officials.
This year, judges handed out 77 Gold medals, 75 Silver medals and 63 Bronze medals.

Grupo Modelo-Crown Imports, Modelo Especial - American- or International-style Pilsner
Mission Brewery, Dark Seas Imperial Stout
Boston Beer Company, Samuel Adams Strawberry Lager - Fruit Beer
New Plant Beer Co., Raspberry Ale - Gluten-free Beer
Alaskan Brewing Co., Alaskan Summer - Golden or Blonde Ale

The public will get its first opportunity to taste the medal-winning beer at Cheers - L.A's Wine, Spirits, Beer & Food Festival June 22, a fundraiser benefitting . Cheers, presented by Black Box Network Services, features the award winners from all the Los Angeles International Competitions (beer, wine, spirits and extra virgin olive oils), gourmet food trucks and dancing.
