Canadian Forces Implements Majority of Commissioner's Recommendations
(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 06/18/13 -- The Canadian Forces is implementing changes to its Individual Training and Education (IT&E) system following recommendations received from the Commissioner of Official Languages in 2010, says a follow-up report released by the Commissioner today.
The follow-up review of the Canadian Forces action plan to address implementation of the recommendations was conducted between December 2012 and January 2013, and revealed that approximately 88% are being implemented or have already been implemented.
"I am satisfied with the steps taken by the Canadian Forces," said Graham Fraser. "The changes being implemented are testimony to the desire of the Canadian Forces to become compliant with the Official Languages Act."
While the report shows that the majority of recommendations issued are being implemented, the Commissioner noted that there was still room for improvement. "I encourage the Canadian Forces to continue in its efforts to ensure better planning to meet the needs of bilingual staff while maintaining existing efforts to ensure future improvements to its training system take into consideration the requirements of the Official Languages Act," said Fraser.
