Dr. Missirlian Provides Oral Surgery for Third World Countries
(firmenpresse) - FORT COLLINS, CO -- (Marketwired) -- 06/14/13 -- Dr. H. Arthur Missirlian, a selfless and charitable of Fort Collins Dental Arts, traveled to Africa last month to offer individuals in third world countries necessary dental care.
Dr. Missirlian and Laurie Olson, a hygienist at FCDA, teamed up with Jewish Voice Ministries International on April 26-May 4, 2013 to "serve people in need and share God's love," he said. The team of Ethiopian and American dentists traveled to Ethiopia and Hosanna, providing individuals of all ages with oral surgery and
The team saw 250-300 patients per day, with Dr. Missirlian serving 40-50 of those total patients each day. As a whole, the team assisted 2,000-2,400 patients during the weeklong trip. Olson focused on cleaning tartar from the teeth of patients; the majority had never seen a dentist or been educated on oral hygiene.
"Serving others is always fulfilling," Dr. Missirlian said. "These people were so humble and appreciative; it makes me want to return."
This trip was not the fist mission trip Dr. Missirlian has participated in. Over the years, he has traveled to Ethiopia, Cambodia, Mexico and Israel, and relies on his skills from Fort Collins Dental Arts to serve and assist individuals living in third world countries with their dental needs.
"It's humbling when you come back to the office," he said. "It makes us appreciate what we have, and the opportunities we have."
