Dribble to Stop Diabetes Will Be Conducting a WNBA and NBA D-League FIT Clinic to Educate Kids About Diabetes

The Dribble to Stop Diabetes campaign is sponsoring a WNBA/NBA D-League FIT Clinic during the NBA Nation presented by Sprint's tour stop in Chicago. The private FIT Clinic will welcome boys and girls ages 7-12 from the Chicago Parks & Recreation Department.
Staying active can help reduce the risk for diabetes, or can help people who have diabetes manage it better. Over 300,000 kids and adults in the Chicago area have diabetes, with many more at risk, so it's crucial to teach people how to get and stay active. The Dribble to Stop Diabetes clinic will encourage kids to join in the fun and excitement of basketball themed drills while learning the importance of being active. The FIT Clinic will consist of the following:
1. Instructions on basketball fundamentals
2. Tips for living a healthy and active lifestyle
3. Basketball-themed games and drills
Diabetes is a serious disease that strikes nearly 26 million children and adults in the United States. A quarter of those with diabetes -- seven million -- do not even know they have it. An additional 79 million, or one in three American adults, have prediabetes, which puts them at high risk for developing type 2 diabetes. Recent estimates project that as many as one in three American adults will have diabetes in 2050 unless we take steps to Stop Diabetes.
