Pizza Pizza Recycles Record Number of Small Electronic Devices as Part of 10th Annual Recycling Program
More Than 2,400 Devices Find Their Way to Pizza Pizza Stores Across the Country
(firmenpresse) - TORONTO, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 06/13/13 -- Winning recipes are at the core of the Pizza Pizza business. The company appears to have a winning one in the world of recycling with Slices for Devices, a month-long program that offers a free slice for every small electronic device that customers drop off in store. Today, the company announces it has collected more than 2,400 devices as part of its 2013 Earth Month activities, held throughout the month of April.
The devices - smart phones, cameras, adapters, tablets, iPods and MP3 players - will now be sold to the refurbishing industry and all funds raised will be donated to Food Banks Canada as part of its Phones for Food program. These collected devices can generate up to $5 each.
"Rewarding the act of recycling is a winning strategy and one that we are happy to pursue," said Pat Finelli, Chief Marketing Officer for Pizza Pizza. "We're happy to continue this investment, which helps feed the hungry, protect the environment, reward customers and emphasize our company's interest in playing a constructive role in our communities. We can't wait to collect even more next year."
"Thank you to Pizza Pizza for continuing to support Food Banks Canada's Phones for Food program," said Katharine Schmidt, Executive Director Food Banks Canada. "The Slices for Devices campaign is a simple way to raise money for the hunger issue while also helping the environment."
The Slices for Devices - previously known as Cells for Slices - program was launched in 2004 and has collected over 8,400 devices to date. To learn more about Pizza Pizza's environmental initiatives, visit: .
