Government of Canada Introduces Supply Bills for 2013-14 Main Estimates and Supplementary Estimates (A), 2013-14
(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 06/06/13 -- The Honourable Tony Clement, President of the Treasury Board, introduced the Full Supply Bill for the 2013-14 Main Estimates and the Supply Bill for the Supplementary Estimates (A), 2013-14 in the House of Commons yesterday evening.
"With the introduction of these Supply Bills, we are ensuring that government organizations receive the funds needed to continue delivering the programs and services Canadians expect," said Minister Clement.
While the 2013-14 Main Estimates were under review, an Interim Supply Bill was introduced to ensure that departments and agencies have the funds needed to begin the new fiscal year. The Full Supply Bill will now provide the balance of the funds requested in the Main Estimates.
The Supplementary Estimates (A), 2013-14 provide information on $1.1 billion in voted appropriations for 16 organizations. The Supply Bill will allow these 16 government organizations to receive the funds they have requested.
Once these bills are approved by Parliament and receive Royal Assent, they become law in the form of appropriation acts. Appropriation acts are the vehicle through which payments from the Consolidated Revenue Fund are authorized to pay for government programs and services.
