Harper Government Invests in Improvements to Agassiz's Community Infrastructure
(firmenpresse) - AGASSIZ, BRITISH COLUMBIA -- (Marketwired) -- 06/05/13 -- Today, Mark Strahl, Member of Parliament for Chilliwack-Fraser Canyon, on behalf of the Honourable Lynne Yelich, Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification, announced support for the Seabird Island Band Health Facility under the Harper Government's Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund (CIIF).
"Our Government is pleased to support infrastructure projects across the country like upgrades to the Seabird Island Band Health Facility," said MP Strahl. "The Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund is benefitting Canadian families and communities immediately, helping to support job creation, boosting economic activity, as well as creating safe and accessible community infrastructure facilities for years to come."
The Harper Government's investment of $106,205 will allow the Seabird Island Band to improve their health facility by installing an elevator, new flooring and electrical upgrades. These improvements will modernize the facility and allow band members to safely access important health and community services.
"Seabird Island Band would like to thank the Government of Canada and all those involved in this project," said Chief Clem Seymour. "These funds are important to ensure that health services are available and accessible to our people."
In Economic Action Plan 2012, the Harper Government announced further support to help communities across the country modernize their infrastructure. Our Government committed $150 million over two years for the Fund. The Fund supports projects that look to improve existing community infrastructure accessible for use by the public, such as community centres, recreational buildings, local arenas, cultural and other community facilities.
