Houston Family Lawyer Establishes New Website That Gives Insight Into Family Law and Criminal Law

The Houston family attorney expressed an important belief that she takes into divorce cases.

Houston-based, Scott graduated from LSU and South Texas College of Law. She earned honors for academic excellence at both institutions.
She has practiced both for Houston and Baton Rouge law firms. Though most of her legal practice is in the Houston area, Scott may occasionally evaluate Louisiana cases.
Clerkships at the start of her career sparked Scott's interest in several areas of law. In Harris County's 257th Family Court, she assisted in docket preparation and prepared files for the judge.
Working with Aid to Victims of Domestic Abuse, Scott prepared pleadings, such as protective orders, original petitions for divorce and final divorce decrees.
Divorce work left her with a belief that remains central to her practice.
"I'm a big advocate of mediation," she said. "In family law, there's rarely a real winner. That means compromise should be a consideration.
"People have to look for a middle ground. It's there, somewhere, for those willing to find it. Finding it can save lots of time and money for the clients."
Scott also built extensive credentials at law firms before opening a sole practice. She drafted family law petitions, motions and judgments. She guided clients on divorce, child support and child-custody issues.
She drafted pretrial memoranda regarding issues for trial on security rights, deficiency rights and vehicle surrender. She also broadened her experience in judgment debtor rules and motions for enforcement.
Keen interest in children led to her to take a 30-hour, CASA post-graduate course in representing abused and neglected children in Louisiana. She also became a Certified Attorney Ad Litem in Texas.
More recently, the Houston family lawyer expanded her practice to include cases involving drafting and reviewing contracts, as well as defending and prosecuting breach of contract.
