Los Angeles International Spirits Competition Announces Winners for 2013
Tequila Comes Out on Top
(firmenpresse) - POMONA, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 06/03/13 -- A 100-percent Blue Agava Tequila Silver Plata took the top honors at the 2013 . With 97 points and at the $50 or more price point, Milagro Select Barrel Reserve Silver, 100% Blue Agava Tequila, Mexico, Silver Plata took best of category, best of division and best of show. Tequilas in general were popular with the judges, with three ranking 95 points or above, the highest scores of the competition.
Judged in May using a point system, the spirits competition drew more than 260 entries submitted into 12 divisions. Many beverages and price ranges were represented, with the point system acknowledging each entry's special attributes and providing a level of precision in the competition's spirits ranking system. Spirits were tasted by an international panel comprised of distributors, distillers, restaurateur and journalists.

Clyde May's Whiskey, Small Batch Bourbon 10 years or less, USA ($30.00, 96 points)

The public will get its first opportunity to taste the medal-winning spirits at Cheers -- L.A's Wine, Spirits, Beer & Food Festival June 22, a fundraiser benefitting . Cheers, presented by Black Box Network Services, features the award winners from all the Los Angeles International Competitions (beer, wine, spirits and extra virgin olive oils), gourmet food trucks and dancing. The winners will also be available for tasting at the , Aug. 30 - Sept. 29. The Fair features a complete wine education program taught by industry experts.
