Grantham University Announces David (Bull) Baker Memorial Scholarship for Air Force Students
(firmenpresse) - KANSAS CITY, MO -- (Marketwired) -- 05/30/13 -- Grantham University, an online university specializing in educating working adults, is now accepting applications for its David (Bull) Baker Memorial Scholarship for Air Force Students.
The annual full scholarship will be awarded to an active duty, reservist, or National Guard member of the U.S. Air Force. The scholarship is valued up to $38,600 and covers the cost of tuition, textbooks, software and fees toward an undergraduate or graduate degree at Grantham University.
The award is made in honor of the late General David "Bull" Baker, U.S. Air Force. He was a highly decorated combat fighter pilot who served on the Grantham University Board of Governors from 2006 until his passing in 2009.
General Baker was the only Air Force POW repatriated from Cambodia at the end of the Vietnam War. He then remained on active duty, returned to combat, and flew 20 missions during Operation Desert Storm, after which he served in the Pentagon as Vice Director for Operational Plans and Joint Force Development, J-7, Joint Chiefs of Staff.
"General Baker's lifelong dedication to his country and the pursuit of knowledge was an inspiration," said Grantham University President Joseph McGrath. "He was a strong supporter of continuing education for service members, and we are extremely pleased to continue to honor his memory by offering this annual scholarship."
