From Mandarin, Vietnamese and Burmese, to Kinyarwanda, Lingala and Tigrigna, Cultural Interpretation Services for Our Communities (CISOC) supports over 60 cultural groups in the region
(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 05/29/13 -- His Worship Mayor Jim Watson will join Executive Director Benjamin Chacon and over 100 cultural interpreters and translators in celebrating the contribution CISOC has made to Ottawa's rich cultural fabric at Ottawa City Hall on Wednesday June 5, 2013.
On any given day or night, CISOC interpreters can be found in hospital emergency rooms in the region helping patients and their families overcome language and cultural barriers, working with the Ottawa Police Service, or assisting the Children's Aid Society and a variety of other community organizations. CISOC's interpreters and translators work in over .
CISOC is a true Ottawa success story. As a , it took root as a community response to a local need for cultural and language support to an increasing number of newcomers. Over the last 20 years, CISOC has grown to be recognized and sought out by organizations from across Canada and beyond for its best practices, as well as and expertise.
