California Art Club to Unveil 102nd Annual Gold Medal Juried Exhibition at the USC Fisher Museum of Art in June
Programs During the Three-Week Exhibition Will Enable Art Enthusiasts to Meet Participating Artists and Learn About Traditional Fine Arts
(firmenpresse) - LOS ANGELES, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 05/28/13 -- The California Art Club will present its at the USC Fisher Museum of Art from June 2 to 23, 2013.
The exhibition features more than 200 never-before-seen contemporary-traditional paintings and sculpture, created using time-honored techniques, but modern in their messages. Addressing issues from cultural diversity to environmental preservation, the exhibition is unthemed to encourage artists to take risks and raise the bar with their art. Exhibiting artists include Meredith Abbott, Peter Adams, Clyde Aspevig, Belá Bácsi, Dennis Doheny, David C. Gallup, Max Ginsburg, David A. Leffel, Daniel W. Pinkham, Ray Roberts, Mian Situ and Christopher Slatoff.
"The California Art Club is honored to join forces with the USC Fisher Museum of Art in presenting the 102nd Annual Gold Medal Juried Exhibition, as both organizations share not only a heritage with the California Impressionist movement, but also the philosophy of complementing traditional art forms with innovation," says Club president Peter Adams.
During the exhibition, the Club will offer educational programs that enable art enthusiasts to learn about traditional art forms. Opening weekend activities include the Artists' Gala Reception on June 1 and a portrait painting demonstration with David A. Leffel on June 2. Visit for details.
The California Art Club, established in 1909 by early California Impressionists or plein air painters, is recognized as one of the oldest, largest and most active leading professional art organizations in the world. The mission of the Club is to promote traditional fine arts in the fields of painting, drawing and sculpture; produce art exhibitions that foster greater understanding of traditional art heritage and California history; and furnish educational opportunities.
The USC Fisher Museum of Art is accredited by the American Alliance of Museums. It functions as a center of intellectual inquiry and aesthetic enjoyment in support of USC's goals of research, teaching, artistic creation, and service to society.
