The papers which are used in making maps are really thin and very fine. It is widely known that the paper maps are no more in use in this present age but still if people talk about the quality of the papers used and the reliability of it then people would come to know that when these were in use, the quality was really perfect. It was used from traditions and it really worked well. It is this present age and new digital technology which is not allowing the paper maps to be used again. On the paper maps you could make graphs and plots with the hand, using some good defined ink. The paper used in making the maps was really fine and when the maps were plotted on it, no other person could do so except the experts themselves because the handling of that paper was really difficult. The paper which is now used in the maps is quite similar to the previous one but less reliable. Even now the trend of paper mapping has declined because of the emergence of digital media.
Delicate Nature Of The Paper Used In The Maps:
One more thing which must be kept in mind when talking about the paper used in the maps is that, the paper was thin and slimy and anything would get slipped on it; it needed great care and was kept under good circumstances. The paper which was used in maps was available at good rates but the architectures never misused them because it was a very fine quality paper which was really important for the one who was making or plotting a map on it or who was going to use it further for his/her business. The paper used in the maps has very fine images plotted on it with exact measurements as it was going to be constructed. Also, the paper used in the maps was kept separately because of it delicate nature. Yes, it was a delicate and thin paper which could get destroyed very easily. Like for example if it gets some drops of water on it then may be it would not get tear up but the spots of the drops get prominent on it when it was dried and it looked really untidy so from this little example you can think of the nature of the paper used in the maps. The paper used in the maps was available on very few of the shops at the old times because it was something really for some useful purpose but later on it was available on many of the shops and it was easy to get them and from there on the trend was started to finish as digital means took over the old means of printing.
