Company Diversifies and "Expands" Its Platform Offerings, Announces Availability of Its First Point-to-Multipoint System

(firmenpresse) - LAS VEGAS, NV and CAMPBELL, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 05/21/13 -- Exalt Communications, the leading innovator of next-generation wireless backhaul solutions, today unveiled ExpandAir®, the company's new point-to-multipoint (PMP) platform. The first system available in the platform is a sub-6 GHz non-line-of-sight offering based on Exalt's exclusive eMIMO® technology, which brings performance, reliability, and security to a new level for value-priced point-to-multipoint microwave backhaul, accelerates deployment time, and reduces infrastructure costs. With an incomparable combination of high capacity, optimal spectrum management, and guaranteed subscriber bandwidth at the lowest cost per bit, systems based on the ExpandAir platform are optimized for applications including 4G/LTE small cell backhaul and Wi-Fi hotspots, rural broadband, e-government, vehicles in motion, and enterprise connectivity.

The ExpandAir eMIMO system consists of a small, zero-footprint, environmentally friendly, and easy to deploy backhaul base station and equally appealing subscriber units. The backhaul base station supports sub-6 GHz frequency bands and delivers up to 250 Mbps per sector to transport voice, data, and HD video over a single unit, saving tower space, simplifying maintenance, and reducing total cost of ownership. ExpandAir eMIMO subscriber units deliver from 10 to 100 Mbps, enabling low initial investment with capacity that can grow over time.

List prices start at under US$2,400 for the ExpandAir eMIMO backhaul base station and at US$650 for subscribers units. The ExpandAir eMIMO system features:

High throughput - up to 250 Mbps per sector with software capacity upgrades

Long range and low power consumption - supports standard POE 802.3af connections

Multi-band flexibility - 4.9 / 5.3 / 5.4 /5.8 GHz

Dedicated bandwidth per subscriber - enabling guaranteed SLAs

Small subscriber unit with 10 - 100 Mbps pay-as-you-grow capacity upgrades

High performance in the harshest conditions, including HAZLOC

ExaltSync™ - internal or GPS synchronization for highest collocation density

Multiple Ethernet ports (3) - easily add cameras for video surveillance

Easy install and alignment - tone generator indicating optimal placement

"From the beginning, we have been committed to remain unconstrained in the development of our wireless backhaul systems, and we designed our unique technology platform with that in mind," said Amir Zoufonoun, CEO of Exalt. "This commitment enables Exalt to deliver systems supporting any frequency band, physical configuration, or network topology. Today we are proving that capability again with the announcement of ExpandAir, our point-to-multipoint, high capacity platform that drives down connectivity costs where line of sight is an issue. ExpandAir is the latest milestone in our mission to offer customers a one-stop shop for wireless backhaul systems that deliver the highest performance at the lowest cost per bit."

ExpandAir joins these Exalt point-to-point platforms to offer customers the broadest wireless backhaul portfolio in the industry:

Systems in the ExtremeAir platform deliver the highest single channel Ethernet throughput available -- up to 1 Gbps -- in sub-60 GHz frequency bands. Designed to support Gigabit Ethernet interfaces in bands from 2 to 43 GHz, the multi-carrier systems built on the ExtremeAir platform are designed to support today's most advanced network architectures.

The ExploreAir platform offers innovations such as single-unit sparing, along with amazing performance -- up to 6 Gbps on a single antenna over 15 miles -- to deliver the highest single carrier Ethernet throughput available in sub-60 GHz frequency bands as well as the highest system gain on the market.

Designed to operate in frequency bands from 2 to 43 GHz, ExtendAir supports both Fast Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet. Exalt systems built on the ExtendAir platform deliver a wide array of features and capabilities previously unavailable in their price range.

With their guaranteed performance and unique architecture, systems built on the EX platform have been the preferred choice of Exalt customers from Tier 1 carriers to WISPs, utilities, public safety agencies, and enterprises throughout the world.

Exalt Communications provides next-generation packet microwave backhaul systems to mobile operators, broadband service providers, government agencies, and enterprises worldwide. Exalt wireless systems are used most often as a complement or cost-effective alternative to fiber. They also have been inherently designed to support the rapid build out of the 4G/LTE mobile Internet infrastructure driven by ever growing user-generated traffic and fueled by the accelerated adoption rate of smartphones and tablets.
