Fort Collins Dental Arts Hires New EDDA Employee
(firmenpresse) - FORT COLLINS, CO -- (Marketwired) -- 05/16/13 -- Fort Collins Dental Arts, the Fort Collins office of Dr. Arthur Missirlian, DDS, has a recent addition to its team. Gutierrez started with the office in March as an Expanded Duties Dental Assistant.
"Laura brings 5 years of experience to our office, mostly in the pediatric dentistry field," said Dr. Missirlian. "She is a fast learner and is very gentle with our patients. I am excited to have her in the office."
An EDDA, also called an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA), performs advanced dental assisting functions. Apart from normal dental assistant duties, an EDDA can monitor and administer nitrous oxide and oxygen inhalation, operate dental x-ray equipment and perform dental radiographic procedures.
An EDDA can also record treatment information in patient records, order and monitor equipment inventory and schedule appointments, prepare bills and receive payment for dental services.

Gutierrez has been an EDDA since 2007. She enjoys meeting people through the dental field, especially getting to know the patients and educating them on superior oral health. Gutierrez grew up in Fort Collins and when not at the office, enjoys her time outdoors, keeping physically fit and spending time with her son.
The requirements for becoming an EDDA in Colorado includes completion of an EDDA educational program, as well as successful completion of the national DANB Radiation Health and Safety (RHS) exam in order to legally operate dental x-ray equipment and perform dental radiographic procedures.
