Center4(TM) Awarded Booth Ferris Foundation Grant
Two-Hundred Thousand Dollar Grant Supports New York City Center Dedicated to Accelerating Technology Innovation for Social Good
(firmenpresse) - NEW YORK, NY -- (Marketwired) -- 05/15/13 -- , an initiative devoted to accelerating technology innovation that strengthens and transforms New York City's health and human services sector to benefit the social good, has been awarded a $200,000 grant from the . This grant, in addition to a seed grant from , will support Center4's activities over the next two years. These activities will include convening industry leaders to identify transformative opportunities in the sector, creating a community of health and human services practitioners and technology and entrepreneurial innovators through workshops, tours and online engagement, and providing mentorship and support to early and mid-stage startups.
"Center4 is working to capture and leverage the energy of the 'New Tech City' in New York and beyond to help nonprofits work smarter, make dollars go farther and ultimately provide more and better care and support to improve the lives of the people served," said BJ Greenspan, managing director of Center4. "We are grateful to the Booth Ferris Foundation for its support and visionary commitment as a funder to the opportunity that technology provides to strengthen the capacity of the nonprofit sector."
This summer, Center4 will focus on the workforce development vertical within the nonprofit sector. Center4 will convene workforce development agencies, technologists and entrepreneurs to identify opportunities where technology can transform the way career development, job training and job placement services are delivered to thousands of unemployed New Yorkers. Future programs will focus on a variety of health and human services' areas, including health and mental health, disabilities, housing, and youth and family services, among others.
