Michael W. Hurwitz, CPA, Brings Deep Experience Advising Public and Private Real Estate Investment Trusts and Helping Structure Strategic Transactions

Mr. Hurwitz brings 25-plus years of experience advising clients on public and private real estate investment trusts (REITs), opportunity funds, portfolio restructurings, acquisitions and dispositions, partnership taxation and tax compliance matters. His expertise also includes negotiations, including structuring and implementing strategic transactions, tax due diligence and mergers and acquisitions in the real estate sector.
Prior to joining MP&S, Mr. Hurwitz was Managing Partner of Hurwitz Consulting. Before that he spent 18 years working for various public accounting firms in New York City. He was a senior manager at a Big Four accounting firm real estate group serving primarily institutional, opportunity fund and high-net-worth individual clients. He subsequently spent several years at a publicly-traded REIT where he oversaw the day-to-day operations of the tax department.

Mr. Hurwitz is an adjunct professor at New York University's Schack Institute of Real Estate. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Syracuse University and Master of Science Taxation from Pace University.
