(firmenpresse) - CALGARY, ALBERTA -- (Marketwired) -- 05/08/13 -- Todd Millar's second book, "Moron: the behind the scenes story of minor hockey" challenges hockey parents across North America to step up their own game. In the book, Millar identifies six critical problems within minor hockey, most notably adults.
"Adults are the biggest problem in minor hockey today," he says. "I don't mean those who cause problems in arenas and associations from threats to physical violence, I'm referring to the ones who stand-by and do nothing at all."
Millar hopes to reach the minor hockey community and instigate change in time for next season. Though the book is sure to cause mixed emotions, he hopes it will also offer steps to get the game back on track. "The game is about the kids; their development of skills both on and off the ice," says Millar. "It's not about parents and coaches who continue to live vicariously through them, to their detriment and to the detriment of the game."
Covering popular topics like the removal of body checking from minor hockey, poor adult behaviour and the elite hockey system, the book is the first of its kind, offering a 'big picture' assessment of minor hockey.
