Quality Care IPA Ophthalmologist, Dr. Eva Liang, to Speak on Age-Related Eye Diseases
(firmenpresse) - LAS VEGAS, NV -- (Marketwired) -- 05/06/13 -- Ophthalmologist, Eva Liang, MD, will provide a community education event on Tuesday, May 14, 2013, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., at the Centennial Hills Active Adult Center, 6601 N. Buffalo Dr., Las Vegas, Nevada, 89131. The presentation is free and open to all persons aged 64 years or older.
Dr. Liang is a member of Quality Care IPA, an independent physician association, in Southern Nevada. Her northwest Las Vegas ophthalmology practice, Center for Sight, opens this month.
According to the American Academy of Ophthalmology and its online journal, Ophthalmology, eye disease affects millions of people in the United States, in particular seniors and the middle-aged. More than 4.4 million Americans over 40 years old are afflicted by diabetic retinopathy, more than 2 million aged 50 and over suffer from age-related macular degeneration (AMD), and at least half of Americans 80 and older will have cataracts.
"There are many good treatment options for age-related eye disease today, but early detection is crucial to successful individual outcomes. Education about eye disease is an important first step for anyone interested in preserving good vision," said Dr. Liang.
