What: May 5, 2013 marks the inaugural flag hoist of the new Canadian Naval Ensign, officially adopted by the Royal Canadian Navy. The Ensign will be worn by all of Her Majesty's Canadian Ships, naval vessels, Naval Reserve Divisions and other designated units. The flag previously known as the Naval Jack was adopted as the new Canadian Naval Ensign and the national Flag becomes the new Naval Jack, which mirrors a standard practice amongst Commonwealth nations. The new Canadian Naval Ensign will be a significant national symbol.
