Kathy Milsom Appointed Chair and Member of Standards Council of Canada
(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 05/03/13 -- The Honourable Christian Paradis, Minister of Industry and Minister responsible for the Standards Council of Canada (SCC), today announced the appointment of Kathy Milsom as Chair and member of the SCC's Governing Council.
"Ms. Kathy Milsom will be a significant asset to the Standards Council of Canada as it continues to advance its agenda," said Minister Paradis. "Her in-depth understanding of technical standards coupled with her vision and leadership skills will guide the Council toward greater success in its oversight of Canada's National Standards System."
Kathy Milsom has extensive experience in both the private and public sectors. From December 2004 to September 2012, she was President and CEO of Ontario's Technical Standards and Safety Authority. Prior to that, she was President and CEO of Canada Lands Company Limited and a board member of its subsidiary company, Canada Lands Company CLC Limited. In 1997, she was President of Vestar Facility Management, a subsidiary of U.S.-based utility company Cinergy Corporation. Ms. Milsom received the University of Toronto's 2008 2T5 Mid-Career Achievement Award and the Ontario Professional Engineers' 2004 Engineering Medal in the management category. She has held numerous board positions, including her current positions as Chair of EDPRO Capital Group's Training Institute and member of the Canadian National Exhibition Association.
Kathy Milsom is certified through the Institute of Corporate Directors' Directors Education Program. She holds a Bachelor of Applied Science from the University of Toronto and is licensed to engineer.
