Figures show that the dog owners spend an average of GBP 144.53 a year on vet fees(4), although costs can vary between breeds.
More than a third (38%) of pet owners surveyed argued that they had difficulty in meeting these costs(4).
To help you to spread the cost of caring for your dogs, some insurers will allow you to pay for pet insurance on a monthly basis, without charge.
Dog owners may also find that veterinary costs can vary from region to region. As an example research revealed that the cost of spaying a two-year-old female Labrador in London and the South East ranged from GBP 98 to GBP 255(4).
