Media Advisory: CUPE Day of Mourning reminder of fight for safer work places

(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 04/26/13 -- April 28 is the International Day of Mourning for workers killed or injured on the job. CUPE will honour these workers who have lost their lives or been injured at work, in special ceremonies across the country.

WHO: Paul Moist, national president of the Canadian Union of Public Employees.

WHAT: Moist will be available for comment on the Day of Mourning and occupation health and safety issues in general, including the recent tragedy in a Bangladesh garment factory that killed over 140 workers.

WHY: "The Day of Mourning is about more than remembering the dead. It's also about fighting for the living and making our workplaces safer and healthier," said Paul Moist, national president of the Canadian Union of Public Employees. CUPE is committed to fighting for safer workplaces for all Canadian workers, and has recently launched an ad campaign on this issue .

WHERE: CUPE will be represented at events across the country.

WHEN: April 28th
