Few entertainers have attained the iconic status of Dwight Yoakam. His name immediately conjures up compelling, provocative images: A pale cowboy hat with the brim pulled low; poured-on blue jeans; intricate, catchy melodies paired with poignant, brilliant lyrics that mesmerize with their indelible imprint. Then there's Yoakam the actor, who seemingly melts into his roles, impressively standing toe-to-toe with some of the world's top thespians: Jodie Foster, Tommy Lee Jones, Forest Whitaker, Nicholas Cage.
Yoakam's latest album, 3 Pears, balances his country core with a fiercely independent embrace of rock, Americana, pop and soul. At age 87, he is still light on his feet, singing and playing the blues with relentless passion. Surrounded by acres of beautiful vineyards, guests will be treated to some of the top performers in contemporary music while picnicking at the winery's intimate concert venue, The Green.
Bring a picnic meal to enjoy with friends on The Green or purchase an assortment of prepared foods from local purveyors who will be onsite. You may also purchase Rodney Strong Vineyards' wines as well as choose from an array of non-alcoholic beverages.
No outside alcoholic beverages will be allowed into the venue. Low-back chairs or blankets are recommended for all lawn seating. No high back chairs or umbrellas. Parking is complimentary and attendants will point the way. The famous Russian River fog usually arrives in the early evening, so attendees are advised to bring jackets and sweaters, or guests can purchase specially logo sweatshirts at the show.
Rodney Strong Vineyards is dedicated to crafting world-class wines that capture the essence of Sonoma County. Rodney Strong sustainably farms 13 estate vineyards and produces wines from Sonoma County's finest appellations -- Alexander Valley, Russian River Valley, Chalk Hill and Sonoma Coast.
