Minister Toews Comments on Removal From "Wanted by the CBSA" List
(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 04/23/13 -- Public Safety Minister Vic Toews made the following statement after the Canada Border Services Agency announced today the removal of Edgar Grant Tsovikian, who was arrested by CBSA Inland Enforcement officers with the assistance of Calgary Police Service and the Alberta Integrated Fugitive Apprehension Unit on March 21st. Tsovikian was inadmissible to Canada for serious criminality, for being convicted of break and enter, possession of stolen property, mischief, fraudulent use of a credit card, and unlawful possession of a firearm.
"On behalf of all Canadians, I commend the CBSA, the Calgary Police Service and the Alberta Integrated Fugitive Apprehension Unit on the arrest of this individual who has now been removed from Canada. Our government has been clear - we will continue to seek out those who try to enter or live here illegally. The safety and security of our citizens remains our primary concern, and to that end, we will locate, apprehend and remove individuals who pose a threat to that safety."
To date, as a result of the "Wanted by the CBSA" program, Canadians have assisted in locating 40 individuals in Canada, of which 29 have been removed. Additionally, six individuals were located abroad.
