Science Powers Commerce: Minister of State Goodyear Addresses Leadership Innovation Conference
(firmenpresse) - WATERLOO, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 04/22/13 -- The Honourable Gary Goodyear, Minister of State (Science and Technology), today delivered an address at the Leadership Innovation Conference hosted by the University of Waterloo. He discussed the Harper government's support for advanced research and technology set out in Economic Action Plan 2013.
"As the global economy becomes more competitive, Canada must continue to support the highly skilled individuals and new ideas that help our businesses innovate, secure new markets and create high-quality jobs," said Minister of State Goodyear. "By investing in advanced research and technology, our government is investing in the current and future prosperity of Canadians."
Since 2006, the Harper government has committed more than $9 billion in new funding for science, technology and the growth of innovative firms. Economic Action Plan 2013 builds on this strong foundation, helping to position Canadafor sustainable, long-term economic prosperity and to provide Canadians with a higher quality of life.
