Local AA Patrol Flying the Flag for South-West
(firmenpresse) - LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM -- (Marketwired) -- 04/19/13 -- AA patrol Kevin Paltridge from Exeter is hoping to be crowned the public face of the UK's biggest motoring organisation at an awards ceremony next month.
Judging for AA Recovery Patrol of the Year - the creme de la creme of the AA's recovery patrols - began in February with regional heats across the UK. In March, the five finalists were put through an intensive day of technical and driving tests, panel interview and mock live TV interviews near the AA's training centre in Leicestershire.
The married 44-year-old joined the AA four years ago after spending 22 years in the Royal Engineers. In his time, he's recovered all manner of cars from early classics to the latest supercars.
Outside of work, he likes walking and cycling and his dream car is an Aston Martin DB9.
Kevin says: "It's great to be recognised for doing the job I love. One of the best things about it is the variety - each day brings different challenges and it's very satisfying getting the member out of a tight spot and back home."
Adam Baldwin, Kevin's area manager, says: "Recovery patrols spend the most time on the road with our members, so the job demands a lot of dedication, skill, tact and humour. Kevin has these in abundance, so fingers crossed it will be his night."
Patrol of the Year award started in 1987. The reigning Recovery Patrol of the Year, Malcolm Duckering from near Redcar, North Yorkshire, will be at the ceremony at Radisson Blu Edwardian Heathrow on 18 May to congratulate his successor.
