Women in Consulting (WIC) Names 2013 Board of Directors
Collaborative Organization Focuses on Educational and Networking Programs in the Bay Area and Nationwide

WIC offers monthly meetings with highly regarded speakers throughout the Bay Area. Members of the email community share everything from best practices, job leads, and technical assistance to professional recommendations and productivity tools. The organization provides other online benefits and services such as its highly rated webinars on-demand and value-based partnerships with companies like Apple Computer, Office Depot, and Armstrong & Associates insurance brokers.
"WIC is much more than a networking organization," said WIC's new president, Kathie Sherman. "Our members are very collaborative. They generously share quality referrals, resources, and information. The 2013 WIC Board of Directors consists of the following professionals, who bring years of experience to the organization.
is WIC's new president. She was WIC's vice president of membership last year and membership director for the two years before that. As president of TenFour Marketing, Kathie helps companies double responses in their direct marketing programs. Focused on increasing both response and conversion rates, tracking and measuring results, optimizing campaigns, and getting strong ROI for her customers, she works with companies of many sizes who want to make every marketing dollar count.
returns for her second term as the executive vice president of operations. Jennifer has also served as WIC's treasurer and vice president of membership. The founder and owner of The Insight Advantage, Jennifer helps businesses integrate customer insight to make key business decisions in the face of emerging customer needs. She also teaches the Power of Marketing Research at the University of California at Santa Cruz Extension in Silicon Valley and organizes the annual Silicon Valley Product Camp.
After three years as WIC's president continues on the board as vice president of programs. The founder and owner of AVE Consulting, Inc., Avery helps companies develop effective and authentic customer-centric marketing and communications strategies that encompass everything from websites to social media to print collateral. She regularly speaks on communication topics -- in particular, social media -- and serves as a program advisor and instructor for the Social Media Certificate Program at San Francisco State University's College of Extended Learning.
returns for the second year as vice president of finance. As a principal and founder of MoneyWise Financial Advisors, Joanna specializes in financial planning and investment advice for women, their families, and businesses. She takes the guesswork and worry out of money matters through comprehensive planning and disciplined investment management and, in the process, frees her clients to pursue the things in life they value most.
is the new vice president of membership, as well as the director of the WIC Leaders Network, a role she has held for five years. The principal of Strategic Marketing Solutions, Deb helps clients with strategic research, market and product development, technology industry analysis, and customer loyalty and experience projects. With more than 25 years of experience in her field, she quickly identifies and addresses core issues, developing actionable strategies and tactics that make a measurable difference to her clients. Deb has been a judge for the Edison Awards, honoring innovation and innovators, for the last four years.
continues to serve in the role she held last year. She had previously been WIC's vice president, director of partnerships, and secretary. Sherry helps high-technology organizations meet their strategic goals through effective channels, alliance, and marketing programs. She's led workshops based on her award-winning book, Market This!: An Effective 90-Day Marketing Tool. Sherry has also been a business-plan-competition advisor for the UC Berkeley StartUp Competition for the past three years.
is also returning in her role as finance director. The owner and founder of Virtual Ms Moneypenny, LLC, Joanne provides administrative support solutions to small business owners. She helps clients free up time to generate more profits by taking noncritical, but essential, tasks off their plate. Her specialties include marketing support, client relations, online research, business systems and resources, and publishing services.
is returning for the second year as WIC's program director. Sandra brings with her an extensive background in managing educational programs. As the principal of Silicon Valley Training Connect, she has extensive instructional resources to deliver in-person and webinar training to companies. She also specializes in providing LinkedIn training and coaching services. Sandra serves on the boards of two other organizations.
is returning as director of partnerships, a role she had two years ago. As CEO of BeWhys Marketing Inc., Sue and her team help B2B companies develop and implement lead-generation marketing programs. BeWhys is focused on optimizing clients' lead-management process, increasing conversion rates, developing and reporting on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and consistently improving results on marketing spend. BeWhys has worked with a variety of clients from Apple Computer, Ariba, Callidus Cloud and Cisco Systems to iasset.com.
is the new director of membership. A graphic designer and project manager at ChaseVP Printing, Danielle provides a blend of the creative and the practical in design and print to a wide range of clients including small businesses, local municipalities, universities, private schools, and nonprofits. Using years of design expertise, marketing experience and business knowledge, Danielle balances creativity with business sensibility to make sure the client's message is always clear.
is serving as marketing and PR director for the second year. The founder and principal of Communications Plus, Kay has more than 25 years of experience in public relations and marketing communications. She helps B2B companies that are struggling to stand out in the crowd spread the word about their products and services, making them better known, more credible, and more profitable. Her services include media relations, publicity, writing, product launches, and website content.
Iis WIC's new Internet Director. The owner of Bay to Bay Technical Solutions, Jeannie has 20 years' experience in corporate and small business IT as a desktop and software support specialist, network administrator, and applications trainer. Bay to Bay Technical Solutions provides a wide range of IT services to consultants and small business owners. Through its telephone, remote-connection and in-person technical support, the company helps its clients manage their networks, computers, and mobile devices.
is the director of WIC's satellite groups, a role she has held for the past two years. Angel is the founder and president of Success through Learning. With more than 20 years of experience as a corporate executive, global trainer, and executive coach, she has the skills needed to empower and transform organizations and individuals. Her work includes providing and developing customized training to corporations as well as one-on-one coaching to executives and entrepreneurs.
is returning for the second year as WIC's Administrative Secretary. The principal of Brasted Consulting, she has more than 20 years of experience as an independent consultant in Silicon Valley. M.A. is a results-oriented project/program professional with extensive global experience in marketing communications, sales development, marketing, marketing operations, and channel programs. Managers turn to her when they need to investigate, design, or implement a program or project but employee resources are limited or unavailable.
