NanoSatisfi Launches an Online Space Control Center, an SDK for Space and a Space App Store at Demo 2013
(firmenpresse) - SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 04/17/13 -- NanoSatisfi today announced the launch of its Online Space Control Center, SDK for Space app development and Apps In Orbit, an App Store at DEMO Mobile 2013, a launch event exclusively concentrated on the best mobile technologies in the areas of design, innovation and market potential.
NanoSatisfi launches satellites into Space, and will give you access to control those same satellites for $250/ week. Specifically, they launch CubeSats, a standard form factor satellite -- smaller than your average toaster -- which leverages many relatively inexpensive off-the-shelf technologies, rather than the sort of expensive, proprietary, single-use technologies traditionally associated with Space flight. This change in technology allows NanoSatisfi to operate in a vastly different fashion from other Space companies, and to offer access to mere mortals like you and I, as opposed to solely governments and large institutions.
In April, NanoSatisfi celebrated its one-year anniversary since its founding, and they have multiple satellite launches already scheduled before their second year is up. At NanoSatisfi they move fast, and it shows. Today's announcement about a Software Development Kit (SDK) for Space means that developers will now have the tools and resources to build unique experiments, applications or even games leveraging NanoSatisfi's fully programmable satellites. Providing easy and scalable access to Space in this way could also mean a very real boost to the available data and value you and I each realize from our smartphones -- combining the portability and locality of what's available on your smartphone with the global reach of a network of satellites will almost be like carrying Space in your pocket.
"Space is experiencing the same radical transformation as when computers stopped being mainframes, and became PCs, and then smartphones. And we are excited to bring Space to everyone using this new technology," said Peter Platzer, NanoSatisfi's CEO.
NanoSatisfi will unveil live one of its satellites, and provide a six-minute demonstration of its Online Space Control Center and SDK on the DEMO Mobile 2013 stage at 10:40am on Wednesday, April 17th, and will host live demonstrations at Booth D1 in the DEMO Mobile 2013 pavilion.
NanoSatisfi democratizes access to space exploration, images and data by providing individuals access to a user-programmable in-orbit satellite for $250/week. The perception is that Space costs billions of dollars and is just for the military and governments, whereas the reality is that Space is affordable and open to individuals -- from students to adults. We provide unique educational opportunities using cutting edge Space technologies, with the directive of driving economic competitiveness and inspiring a brand new generation of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) professionals.
