From KOE Europe: Technology similar to IPS helps achieve optimal readability of innovative 5.7-inch (14 cm) and 6.5-inch (17 cm) TFT displays
(PresseBox) - Gleichmann Electronics now offers two innovative 5.7-inch (14 cm) and 6.5-inch (17 cm) TFT displays from KOE Europe. These new displays are especially suitable for applications where consistently good readability of the display from all viewing directions is required or applications where the display must be rotated 90 degrees into the portrait position.
Conventional TN-TFTs always guarantee good optical results from only three viewing directions. With the 5.7-inch (14 cm) TX14D23VM5BAA TFT display and the 6.5-inch (17 cm) TX17D01VM5BAA TFT display, this disadvantage is overcome through special optical layers.
The technology, which is similar to in-plane switching (IPS) technology, enables the realization of comparatively cost-effective LCD modules having the same optical performance of conventional displays that are manufactured using VA and IPS technologies. Both TFT-LCDs feature, among other things, a high brightness of 800 cd/m² and a good contrast ratio of 400:1 with the 5.7-inch (14 cm) TX14D23VM5BAA and 350:1 with the 6.5-inch (17 cm) TX17D01VM5BAA. The white LED backlight provides a minimum of 40,000 hours half brightness lifetime for the TX14D23VM5BAA and a minimum of 70,000 hours half brightness lifetime for the TX17D01VM5BAA.
The industry standard 40-pin, 6-bit RGB CMOS interface of the new TFT panels supports a color palette of up to 262,000 colors. The TX17D01VM5BAA is fully compatible with the 6.5 inch (17 cm) TX17D01VM2CAA and TX17D01VM2EAB displays from KOE Europe.
Both the 5.7-inch (14 cm) TX14D23VM5BAA and 6.5-inch (17 cm) TX17D01VM5BAA TFT-LCDs support an operating temperature range of -20°C to +70°C.
