This fresh silicon prairie start-up focuses on the common pain points in a travel market that is ripe for disruption when it comes to group travel details and logistics through building simple consumer-focused web tools.
Group travel is complicated! Travefy makes it easy. Anyone who has ever planned a group trip knows the dozens of scattered emails and a lack of transparency can make group travel planning a daunting experience. "Planning a group trip can be extremely frustrating," said Erick Schonfeld, executive producer of DEMO. "Travefy solves many of the key pain points in coordinating group travel -- while keeping it simple and fun."
Travefy is a free online tool that helps groups simplify their travel by allowing them to socially vote on the best date and location for their trip, message and collaborate on trip details through a private trip wall, and book shared hotels.
Travefy will launch the beta version of this consumer application at as a student-alpha company at the DEMO Mobile 2013 conference in San Francisco. In the future, Travefy will release a companion mobile application to capture and manage trip expenses in real-time. Additionally, Travefy offers a white label version of this cloud-based software to travel agents to save time and increase capacity.
Travefy is based in Lincoln, Nebraska and was founded by CEO David Chait and CTO Chris Davis. Chait, a current Columbia Business School student, formerly served as Senior Policy Advisor to the Administrator at the U.S. Small Business Administration and worked as a consultant at McKinsey & Company. Davis has deep development experience and most recently worked as the Development Team Lead at Hudl, a sport video company.
