Dr. Todd Mabry Uses Photographs and Diagnostic Models to Help Patients Assess Their Own Smiles and Articulate Their Personal Aesthetic Goals

Many times, Dr. Mabry notices aspects of a patient's teeth and gums that are above and beyond what the patient knows or understands can be adjusted or fixed. As an example, Dr. Mabry highlights that a patient might visit his office complaining of an upper tooth being chipped or broken without realizing that a lower tooth is the cause. He says patients may require ® or another orthodontic treatment to straighten their teeth before the cosmetic concerns can be addressed.
Other common cases include patients who want to lengthen shorter teeth but also have an irregular gumline. If Dr. Mabry were simply to address the tooth length, he says the patient may not realize that lengthening the teeth alone could make their irregular gumline more pronounced.
Similarly, the Scottsdale dentist says if patients request to close spaces between their teeth and their teeth are of average length, adding breadth to those the teeth will cause them to appear disproportionately wide. Keeping in mind "golden proportions," Dr. Mabry strives to work with his patients to co-diagnose their unique circumstances and to jointly develop a treatment plan so they understand what to expect in regard to results.
At his practice, Dr. Mabry often utilizes diagnostic models to achieve the most effective results for his patients. After taking impressions of the patients' teeth, he sends those impressions to a lab that adds wax to lengthen and widen teeth and fill in spaces. Once these temporary teeth are fabricated, Dr. Mabry says his patients can have a good idea of what to expect for the final, permanent results: "."
According to Dr. Mabry, even the impact of temporary teeth can be astonishing. Before his patients receive their final product, he says they often tell him how others are noticing a positive change, complimenting them on their looks, and saying that they have a more youthful appearance.
A graduate of the University of Arizona, earned his dental degree at Marquette University School of Dentistry. In addition to running his private cosmetic dentistry practice, he serves as a volunteer dentist for the John C. Lincoln Children's Dental Clinic.
