Harper Government Invests in Improvements to Delta's Community Infrastructure
(firmenpresse) - DELTA, BRITISH COLUMBIA -- (Marketwired) -- 04/11/13 -- Today, Nina Grewal, Member of Parliament for Fleetwood-Port Kells, on behalf of the Honourable Lynne Yelich, Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification, announced support for improvements to the North Delta Community Park under the Harper Government's Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund (CIIF).
"Our Government is committed to creating jobs, growth and long-term prosperity in our communities across Canada," said MP Grewal. "By making these investments in local infrastructure, we are helping boost economic activity and maintain a high quality of life for Canadians."
The Harper Government's investment of $55,000 will support the installation of a picnic shelter for the North Delta Community Park. The Corporation of Delta will also install a pathway that connects the new shelter to the adjacent walking trail.
"Our partnership with the Government of Canada and the North Delta Lions Club has succeeded in securing an important community amenity for North Delta's Social Heart," said Mayor Lois E. Jackson. "The North Delta Community Park Picnic Shelter will provide a great space for our community to enjoy."
In Economic Action Plan 2012, the Harper Government announced further support to help communities across the country modernize their infrastructure. Our Government committed $150 million over two years for the Fund. The Fund supports projects that look to improve existing community infrastructure accessible for use by the public, such as community centres, recreational buildings, local arenas, cultural and other community facilities.
