Harper Government Invests in Improvements to Forest Grove's Community Infrastructure
(firmenpresse) - FOREST GROVE, BRITISH COLUMBIA -- (Marketwired) -- 04/11/13 -- Today, Cathy McLeod, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of National Revenue and Member of Parliament for Kamloops-Thompson-Cariboo, on behalf of the Honourable Lynne Yelich, Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification, announced support for the Forest Grove Curling facility under the Harper Government's Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund (CIIF).
"Our government is pleased to provide funding to the Forest Grove 94 Lions Club to purchase and install a new ice plant for the curling club," said PS McLeod. "This will inject new life into the rink and once again allow residents to participate in one of Canada's best loved sports in their community."
The Harper Government's investment of $60,300 will allow the Forest Grove 94 Lions Club to upgrade their curling facility with new ice plant equipment. These improvements will make the facility available for curling again and ensure that the community can continue enjoying the rink for years to come.
"Curling in winter has been an extremely important activity for all ages in Forest Grove and the new ice plant will mean that community members can once again enjoy getting together for fun and competition," said Chris Cummings, President of the Forest Grove 94 Lions Society. "The curling club is a focal point for many people and will revitalize our community centre."
In Economic Action Plan 2012, the Harper Government announced further support to help communities across the country modernize their infrastructure. Our Government committed $150 million over two years for the Fund. The Fund supports projects that look to improve existing community infrastructure accessible for use by the public, such as community centres, recreational buildings, local arenas, cultural and other community facilities.
