Vincent Kartheiser Stars in Short Film "Fruit of Labor" Premiering at Newport Beach Film Festival
Directorial Debut by "Mad Men" Alum La Monde Byrd Set to World Premiere on April 28
(firmenpresse) - LOS ANGELES, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 04/11/13 -- Society FilmWorks announced today that its short film, "Fruit of Labor" directed by La Monde Byrd, produced by Marcy Patterson and Stephen Paratore, and starring Vincent Kartheiser of "Mad Men" fame, will hold its world premiere on Sunday, April 28, 2013, at the Newport Beach Film Festival. It will screen at 8:00 P.M. at the Fashion Island Cinema.

"Fruit of Labor" tells the story of Alfred; a demented, low-level associate editor who believes society lacks passion, and desires to be taken seriously as a fashion photographer. With the assistance of his homicidal wife, Eva, Alfred pushes his would-be models to the brink of hysteria in order to capture the perfect photo. Alfred's rage and jealousy sends us on a roller coaster ride of emotions, ending in a sobering finale.
Vincent Kartheiser, best known for portraying Peter Campbell on AMC's "Mad Men," stars in the film as Alfred. "Alfred is an interesting character," said Kartheiser. "He really blurs the lines between passion, perseverance and sheer madness, ultimately finding himself in a very sobering situation at his own hand. He makes you think about the fine line between passion and insanity."
The film also features Erin Cummings ("Detroit 1-8-7"), Chi McBride ("Pushing Daisies," "The Terminal"), Joseph Williamson ("Grey's Anatomy"), and Vaughn Armstrong ("Clear and Present Danger").
"Fruit of Labor" will screen twice at the Newport Beach Film Festival. Sunday, April 28, at 8:00 PM and Monday, April 29, at 5:30 PM, both at the Fashion Island Cinema. Tickets are available for purchase through the festival website, .
