(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 04/08/13 -- Public Safety Minister Vic Toews made the following statement after the Canada Border Services Agency announced today the arrest of Edgar Grant Tsovikian and the removals of Hong Guang Xue and Robert Akwasi Boakye, all of whom were featured on the 'Wanted by the CBSA' list.

Edgar Grant Tsovikian is inadmissible to Canada for serious criminality, for being convicted of breaking and entering and committing offence. He has been convicted of possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition, mischief and possession of property obtained by crime.

Tsovikian was apprehended on March 21 by the CBSA Enforcement Intelligence Operations Directorate (Inland Enforcement) in Calgary with the assistance of the Calgary Police Service and the Alberta Integrated Fugitive Apprehension Unit.

Hong Guang Xue was removed March 24 after being apprehended in Guelph, Ontario. He was inadmissible to Canada for violating the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and for allegedly committing an offence outside of Canada that, if committed in Canada, would have constituted a Canadian offence. Robert Akwasi Boakye was removed April 3, after his arrest on February 20 in Vaughan, Ontario. He was inadmissible to Canada for serious criminality including being convicted of extortion and other offenses. Both Boakye and Xue were arrested by the Toronto Immigration Task Force, a joint unit comprised of CBSA and RCMP officers.

"I commend the efforts of the law enforcement officers involved in the arrest and the removals from the "Wanted" list. The safety and security of our citizens remains our primary concern. Canadians can be assured our government remains committed to locating, apprehending and removing individuals who pose a threat to our communities."

This brings to 40 the total number of apprehensions from the "Wanted by the CBSA" list, launched in July 2011. To date, 28 individuals have been removed from Canada and six individuals have also been located abroad.
