ATDynamics Launches New European Fuel Efficiency Concept for Semi-Trailers at the Commercial Vehicle Show in Birmingham, UK
UK Distribution Starts With European Union Approved TrailerTail Eco50
(firmenpresse) - HAYWARD, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 04/04/13 -- ATDynamics, the leading global supplier of semi-trailer rear-drag aerodynamics technology, announced that at the Commercial Vehicle Show in Birmingham, UK, ATDynamics will launch its European version of the market-proven TrailerTail® with distribution starting in the United Kingdom. The European Union approved TrailerTail Eco50 will be on display in booth 5G121 at the show from April 8 - 11, 2013.
Recent changes to European Union transportation legislation now allow ATDynamics to offer a version of its rear-drag aerodynamics device, the TrailerTail Eco50, independently tested to deliver five liters of fuel savings per 1000 kilometers driven at motorway speeds. The legislation allows for the TrailerTail Eco50 device to be installed on new trailers coming from trailer production facilities in the UK and all countries in the European Union. The device is particularly effective in the UK and will generate comparatively greater fuel savings there due to the exceptional trailer heights, which cause increased aerodynamic drag.
As opposed to other designs for rear drag reduction devices, the ATDynamics concept does not affect the loading/unloading, capacity or operation of the trailer. More than 15,000 of ATDynamics' patented "folding rear wings" have proven their durability and performance for more than 160 trucking fleets in the United States and Canada, such as Halvor Lines and CR England. The device unfolds automatically with the pull of a cord and closes automatically when the trailer doors are opened nearly eliminating the need for driver involvement with the TrailerTail.
TrailerTails improve the aerodynamic efficiency of trailers beyond that of side skirts alone by reducing drag behind the trailer for a total aerodynamic solution. Tests show that the TrailerTail Eco50 reduces fuel consumption significantly when part of an aerodynamic trailer system. ATDynamics designed and released the Eco50 after leading European trailer manufacturers and fleet operators showed great interest in ATDynamics' innovative fuel efficiency product at the 2012 IAA Show in Hanover.
