RWS Manufacturing Thanks the Community, Employees, Suppliers and Partners for Their Support in Reopening the Plant
(firmenpresse) - KINGSBURY, NEW YORK -- (Marketwired) -- 04/04/13 -- RWS Manufacturing, a wood shavings manufacturing facility in Kingsbury, NY would like to thank the community, employees, suppliers and partners for their support in reopening the plant which had closed on March 22 at midnight by the Town of Kingsbury, NY.
The following Saturday morning, the community showed RWS Manufacturing its support by discussing their disbelief. Employees, suppliers, partners and business leaders reminded the town council that the twenty plant employees found themselves unemployed as loggers in the region could not deliver their wood and thus ensure the durability of their jobs and their company. These efforts, combined with RWS Manufacturing's, may have influenced positively the town as they authorized the reopening of the plant's operations on March 26.
"We would like to thank all those who have, directly or indirectly participated in the reopening of the plant. Members of the community were able to see our efforts and recognize the impact that the closure may affect, said Don Student, general manager of RWS Manufacturing. It is not only us, RWS Manufacturing employees but also suppliers that feel the impact of such a decision. Not to mention that this can be a hindrance to the development of the industrial park, he deplores."
A judge's order was received allowing the plant's closure if deadlines for resolving disputes between the plant and the City were not met. There were four deadlines the plant needed to meet : a 200 000$ performance bond on March 22; construct a sound wall and a construction entrance, build a storm water pond and complete a new exit and entrance by April 5; a log storage area and travel lanes be graded by May 20 and by June 5 complete all remaining work including a trailer parking area, a front entrance, storm water management work and landscaping.
Despite efforts made by RWS Manufacturing, no US insurance company was able to provide the bond as the major shareholders of the plant are Canadians.
"No American company has wanted to make such a bond even with a full financial guarantee. We have to appeal to a Canadian company; it is for this reason that the delay was longer than expected. As for the other deadlines, they should be met as most of the work is already underway. We hope that our relationship with the town will be renewed cordially and confirm that our doors are always open to all, says Don Student."
