NextFort Selects Johnson Controls for Data Center Automation System
Metasys(R) Integrates and Automates Key Systems Tailored to the Unique Needs of Modular Data Center Customers
(firmenpresse) - PHOENIX, AZ -- (Marketwired) -- 04/02/13 -- , LLC, owner and operator of a first-of-its-kind modular data center, today announced that it has selected Johnson Controls to develop and deploy the building automation system for NextFort's 180,000-square-foot modular data center in Chandler, Ariz.
Set to open in late April 2013, NextFort's innovative modular approach provides each customer with its own turnkey, financial grade data center solution as a completely self-contained environment. Customers benefit from flexibility and scalability in how they deploy modular units of data center capacity underpinning their businesses and customer-facing services.
Johnson Controls is a global leader in delivering solutions that increase energy efficiency in buildings. For NextFort, Johnson Controls is deploying the Metasys® building automation system. Metasys® is an innovative software-based management platform that integrates and automates key data center systems and processes such as HVAC (cooling), fire suppression, access controls and digital video monitoring systems (security), power monitoring and management.
NextFort's data center will feature availability of 130,000 sq. ft. of NextFort High-Density Computing Suites (NextFort HCSâ„¢). These suites are completely self-contained, all concrete and steel rooms designed to house up to 20 high-density IT racks for a total IT load up to 225KW (up to 600 watts/sq. ft.) Future expansion calls for 50,000 square feet of additional HCSs that can be rapidly deployed.
The Metasys system allows NextFort to independently isolate and tailor delivery of key processes for each HCS depending upon customer requirements.
In addition, Johnson Controls is providing NextFort with a highly-efficient and dependable direct expansion air conditioning cooling system that does not require water. Each NextFort HCS has its own cooling system contributing to nearly 40 percent better energy efficiency compared to conventional data centers, thus reducing energy costs for NextFort's customers.
