For Movie Fans, 2013 Will Offer Many Familiar Franchises

Film buffs are sure to want to expand their in theatres, but here's is what to expect from the big screen experience this year.
Slated for a late November release date, "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" will mark the return of Jennifer Lawrence and Liam Hemsworth in a reprisal of their roles. Fans can expect a promising performance since the studio has already inked a deal to create two more movies based on the final book of the series.
Though the Hunger Games is poised to take the trilogy spotlight, Stephanie Meyer isn't stepping away from the big screen. The Twilight author is now garnering buzz for her March 29 release, "The Host". Sporting a major conflict between two different populations heightened by a pair of star-crossed lovers, this film is anticipated to become the new "saga" for tween and adult movie-goers alike.
In the comedy genre, Bradley Cooper will also return to the silver screen this year to wrap up "The Hangover" trilogy. While fans of the first movie became critics of the second due to the story line's lack of innovation, director Todd Phillips acknowledged the perceived disappointment by vowing to pack the last film with new comedic material.
Another book-turned-movie franchise, "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey", covered more ground than readers of the middle earth series expected, but it may have been by design. "The Desolation of Smaug" won't be released until December 13, giving them plenty of time to mull over what will happen after the cliffhanger ending of the first movie.
These sequels are expected to gross as much, or even more, than their predecessors at the box office. Once fans find out what all the buzz is about, they can make room in the DVD collections for these anticipated blockbusters by selling old discs at .
